چکیده

A method for fault detection is proposed using nonlinear black-box models, such as polynomial regression and neural networks. Compared to existing methods, this proposed method has the advantage of not requiring model training under all the possible faulty modes of the monitored system. Partial physical knowledge , if available, can be combined with the nonlinear black-box model to perform fault isolation. Design of nonlinear parity approach to fault detection and identification based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model and unknown input observer in nonlinear systems

In this study, a novel fault detection scheme is developed for a class of nonlinear system in the presence of sensor noise. A nonlinear Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is implemented to create multiple models. While the T-S fuzzy model is used for only the nonlinear distribution matrix of the fault and measurement signals, a larger category of nonlinear systems is considered. Next, a mapping to decou...

Towards a Theory for Integration of Mathematical Verification and Empirical Testing

From the viewpoint of a project manager responsible for the V&V of a software system, mathematical verijcation techniques provide a potentially valuable addition to otherwise standard empirical testing. However, the value they add, both in terms of coverage and in fault detection, has been difficult to quantify. Potential cost savings from replacing testing with mathematical techniques cannot b...

Using structural decomposition methods to design gray-box models for fault diagnosis of complex industrial systems: a beet sugar factory case study

Reliable and timely fault detection and isolation are necessary tasks to guarantee continuous performance in complex industrial systems, avoiding failure propagation in the system and helping to minimize downtime. Model-based diagnosis fulfils those requirements, and has the additional advantage of using reusable models. However, reusing existing complex non-linear models for diagnosis in large...

Online Fault Detection in Virginiamycin Production

It is difficult to measure online substrate, biomass, and product concentrations, due to the lack of reliable sensors in the fermentation. In view of this, the pH, dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration, and CO2 production, among others, are usually utilized in bioprocess analysis. With these easily obtained online measurements, it is possible to reconstruct the evolution of the state variables or...

On-Line Models for Use in Automated Fault Detection and Diagnosis for HVAC&R Equipment

To improve overall fault detection and diagnostic (FDD) performance, many of the techniques proposed for automated FDD rely on the use of steady-state models for expected values of operating states under normal operating conditions. Furthermore, on-line measurements and models for overall performance (e.g., EER) are useful in evaluating whether faults are serious enough for service to be perfor...
